Hi, I'm Andrew, a PhD candidate studying the sociotechnical and organizational aspects of data work in science.
Research and Practice
My research examines how domain scientists carry out data-intensive collaborative knowledge work. I study the coordinative work of producing and integrating large, heterogeneous datasets for analysis with AI/ML methods, and how that work is reshaping both scientific discovery and the ways trust is established in data, algorithms, and results.
I also bring experience leading user research efforts to define and evaluate AI-powered experiences in scientific and industry settings, from an oceanographic data portal to assistive eyewear for people with low vision.
